Advanced Integration Architecture & C4E Enablement (Course #advanced-architecture-c4e)
For solution architects.
By the end, you can
By the end of this course, you will be able to lead enterprise integration governance and C4E enablement — federated standards, versioning, HA/DR, DataWeave at scale — so that reuse hits 60 % and claim APIs hold 99.95 % uptime.
Running case study
Altaris Insurance Group, born from a merger of two carriers in 9 countries, must consolidate 26 claims and policy systems behind shared APIs while 12 squads deliver in parallel. Bar to hold: 99.95 % availability on claim APIs, DR with RPO 15 min / RTO 4 h, nightly reconciliation of 2 M records streamed in under 40 min. Your C4E is judged on 60 % reuse within one year.

5 modules · 15 topics · in course-flow order
-
Module 1
Federated Delivery, Real Gates
Objective. Arbitrate the federated delivery model for Altaris and stand up automated gates whose metrics prove C4E value quarterly.
- Pick the federated model per domain — hub-and-spoke or product-aligned — and staff it, e.g. 2 enablers for 12 squads
- Encode standards as automated gates: governance rulesets on API specs, MUnit coverage floors in CI, policy baselines in API Manager
- Define the C4E scorecard with named owners: reuse rate, time-to-first-API under 6 weeks, consumer satisfaction, asset adoption
-
Module 2
Own the Full Lifecycle
Objective. Evaluate versioning strategies against breaking-change risk and steer deprecation and retirement on dates consumers can plan.
- Choose URI vs header versioning per API family and codify what counts as breaking via OAS 3.x diff checks
- Mechanize deprecation: Sunset headers, 180-day windows, dual-running majors, automated consumer notifications
- Steer state transitions — designed, published, deprecated, retired — in Exchange and API Manager with exit criteria per stage
-
Module 3
Uptime Is a Design Decision
Objective. Dimension HA and DR to hold 99.95 % with RPO 15 min / RTO 4 h, and arbitrate tuning levers under a fixed vCore envelope.
- Apply HA/DR patterns: multi-worker multi-zone clusters, Anypoint MQ DLQ with redelivery, active-passive DR rehearsed twice a year
- Pull the tuning levers that move p99: streaming over in-memory payloads, connection pooling, cache scopes, tuned thread profiles
- Plan capacity from baselines: p99 and TPS per API, growth forecasts, e.g. +2 vCores per +50 % volume, reviewed quarterly
-
Module 4
DataWeave Under Governance
Objective. Diagnose memory and streaming risks in critical mappings and enforce shared libraries plus review thresholds across squads.
- Publish shared DataWeave 2.x modules to Exchange — canonical schemas, dwell formats — and version them like any asset
- Gate heavy jobs on numbers: streams over 100 MB without heap spikes, 2 M-row reconciliations benchmarked under 40 min
- Add DataWeave checkpoints to reviews: no duplicated logic without a shared module, no collect() on unbounded lists
-
Module 5
Platform Architect I, On Target
Objective. Map the Platform Architect I domains against your delivered projects and convert diagnosed gaps into a dated study plan.
- Map exam domains and weightings onto real project experience; flag weak zones, e.g. operational best practices under 50 % on the diagnostic
- Drill timed scenarios: defend each answer aloud, spot distractors that swap CloudHub limits for Runtime Fabric behavior
- Leave with a dated plan: weekly study blocks, two booked mock exams, exam slot scheduled within 8 weeks
